Import Velocity

This plugin imports MIDI velocity values from a CSV file into a MuseScore 4 score.

It's primary use is for restoring velocity values when moving a MuseScore 3 score to MuseScore 4, as this flattens all velocities to 64.
The CSV file can be edited, (manually or programatically), before importing if you want to achieve specific effects such as applying emphasis to particular beats within a measure.

It works with a single stave, (notation or TAB), and a double-stave, (e.g. piano).

The plugin comes in 2 parts:

Score Mapper for MuseScore 3

Generates a csv file containing the required velocity information for each note.

• Choose 1 or 2 staves to be mapped.
• Generate to build the score map.
• View to view the built-map. (Optional)
• Export to save the built-map as a csv file in the current score's folder.
  • The detail on the popup dialog can be used to copy the csv path.

Velocity Import for MuseScore 4

Loads the csv file and applies the velocities.
It is recommended to take a copy of the MS3 score to use in MS4 rather than working on the original MS3 score.

• Specify the path to the folder containing the csv map. (Can be copy/pasted from the MS3 plugin).
• Select the Import Type as either TAB Stave or Notation
• Select which track to import. (Tracks are imported 1 at a time).
  • Tracks are number from 0 on the first stave and there are 4 tracks per stave, corresponding to the 4 voices.
  • A single stave can have tracks 0 to 3; a double stave 0 to 7.
• Offset is an optional value to approximate MS3 offset velocities rather than user velocities.
• Load the csv map.
• Apply the velocities to the selected track.
• Select any further tracks to process and Apply, (no need to reload the csv map).

Installation

• Download ScoreMapper QML to your MS3 plugins folder.
• Download VelocityImport QML and PNG to a new sub-folder in your MS4 plugins folder.
• Use MS3 and MS4 plugin mangers to enable the plugins. (If in doubt, consult the handbooks).
